Principal Investigator:
Professor SN Lane
Dates:
1st October 2003 – 30th September 2005
Grant:
The Leverhulme Trust
Summary:
For the first year from 1st October 2003 Professor Lane will buy himself out of his teaching and administration, retaining a small amount in the first semester. This period will be used to develop his expertise in areas of study which include:-
- Enhanced methods of flood forecasting based upon the coupling of distributed hillslope hydrological models to flood inundation models. This is a project that has funding from the Environment Agency, the National Trust and the Natural Environment Research Council.
- Extending the initial model to look at the prediction of water quality parameters in relation to climate change.
- The growing sophistication of prediction in hydrological and hydraulic work that is opening up new opportunities for predicting parameters (and their changes) in relation to ecosystem habitat.
