The financial and business services sector has become a major economic sector. Archive research has been carried out to offer an understanding of the development of the professional and financial services sector from the mid 18th century and the emergence of an office district in Leeds. Data are being accumulated on the period from 1861 to the contemporary era. Drivers of change and spatial outcomes in the contemporary office market have been studied.
In 2005, consultancy work on the West Yorkshire office market was undertaken for West Yorkshire Economic Partnership. The aim was to elucidate the dynamics of the main markets and suggest possible public sector interventions.
