• a ZONE is another word for geographical areas or regions or places or polygons

• a ZONE is essentially a two-dimensional map based object with a boundary

• there are many different types

  • e.g. Local Authorities, Towns, regions, census areas, sales territories, political definitions etc

• ZONE DESIGN involves changing their map boundaries
