Definition of a Spatial Interaction Model

• An abstract, idealised, representation of any and all kinds of spatial interaction phenomenon

These models describe the pattern of flows between a set of origin and destination zones on a map

The models are widely applicable and today have a commercial value (eg GMAP Ltd)
