The Spatial Mining for Data of Public Interest (SPIN!) project was funded by the European Commission Fifth Framework IST programme (contract code: IST-1999-10536) was funded for 3 years from 2000-01-01 until 2002-12-31.
The project developed a spatial data mining system comprised of a number of components which were integrated using Enterprise Java Beans.
One component of this system was a spatial cluster detection tool - an implementation of a number of spatial clustering methods in Java.
The project supported a number of partners to develop skills and experience in project management, software evaluation, software development, software use, system integration, and collaborative working.
A copy of the SPIN! system as it was at the end of the project is archived at the University of Leeds.
