- Meeting with Junaid:
- Junaid to find out more about the SARoNGS work:
- Junaid mainly working on Work Package 3.1.
- Need to get GLS systems working for Work Package 4.1.
- Opportunity to get involved in project: Evaluating the (online) identity theft patterns among a large UK retailer and developing a framework for theft protection:
- We discussed some of the security mechanisms of credit card transactions and considered how this might overlap with the NCeSS e-Infrastructure for the Social Sciences Project work Junaid is doing.
- MoSeS, GENESIS, PhD
- Meeting with Mark
- MoSeS final report
- Prepare results of population initialisation for local authority districts to be deposited with the UKDA.
- Prepare lists of all publications and workshops attended.
- What have I done and what am I going to do on GENESIS?
- Generative Demographic Modelling Progress
- I showed Mark the visual outputs from the modelling work I have done...
- We discussed how people agents can be visualised moving about and how to progress this work:
- Continue developing abstract/theoretical models:
- Run some large simulations (larger world and number of commuters).
- Model network evolution and constrain travel.
- Start seeding simulations with real data
- Use travel to work statistics for Leeds

- Generative Demographic Modelling Progress Report
- First attempts at visualising commuting.
- Source code is available via the following URL:
- The images show 2 days of movement. Everyone starts work at the same time and on the first day everyone is late. On the second day, everyone arrives simultaneously. There are 3 different sets of outputs. The first is for a smallish world where the workplaces are centralised. The other two are for slightly bigger worlds. Because the second visualisation is a bit cluttered, the last one is very similar, but the movements are scaled depending on how many are in them. The map outputs are available via the following URLs:

- MASS Meeting
- Nick, Alsion, Andy and me
- I showed my first attempt at visualising agent flows and demographics in a dynamic simulation
- Introducing some of the generative social simulation work I've been doing over the last few weeks.
- Aim is to work in small steps in GENESIS focussing on visual outputs.
- The model is currently based on synthetic data and is being built incrementally.
- I think I now have the skeleton of a geographical agent based model.
- All the code and outputs are online...
- I hoped to get some feedback:
- Nick suggested I think about road networks no and looked into the repast Jung network :-)
- Asked if anyone had a java code snippet to create animations from a set of images:
- Andy said he may know of something...
